Safe and Sound in Tactic

We are safe and sound in Tactic.  Unfortunately the blog site is not allowing us to post.  To ensure you know of our safe arrival, we decided to send our first post to you via e-mail.  We ask that you share it with your loved ones and all who are praying for us.

After a long day of airports and flights we finally arrived in Guatemala City at about 9:15pm where we were warmly welcomed by Les Peters and his team from Impact Ministries.  From the airport the team was transported by large passenger vans over to Seteca Bible School and Seminary located right in Guatemala City.  We gathered under a beautiful tree and noticed the calmness of the night, the warm air blowing lightly, and the greenery around us, a welcomed break from the cold and snow that we left behind.
Les proceeded to tell us that he is very excited to have our team in Guatemala as we will be present at the dedication of the new school, Vida Nueva, our sister school.  He informed us that the students and teachers at the school have been fervently praying for each team member by name for the past month.  This touched many of our hearts and even brought a couple of us to tears. How amazing it is to know that this team has been covered in prayer not only by our own community, but also by these precious people in Guatemala.  We were then shown to our rooms for a much needed rest.
In the morning we awoke early and had the opportunity to tour the grounds of Seteca.  It is a beautiful place with many court yards, flowers, and beautiful trees and shrubbery.  After breakfast we loaded the vans and headed to Tactic.  After about a four hour drive of winding roads through the mountains, although amazing, many of us were relieved to finally be at the guest house. We are thankful to God for keeping us safe throughout our travels over these past two days.  We met our guest house hosts and team leaders and then went to Chamche for a hike. Along the way on the hike we were able to greet many of the people that live in the nearby village. Children would meet us beside the road and say “hola” and give us huge smiles.  The team is looking very forward to going to the new school to play with the kids and to teach them about Jesus during VBS.  Already it is evident that God is moving amongst the team and we are so excited for what is to come over these next few days.
We are missing family that we have left back home, but are fully embracing this experience.  Please continue pray for us as we have some amongst the group with sore throats.  Please pray that our energy levels stay up, so that we can be as productive as possible as we start our work project tomorrow morning.  Thank you for all of your love and prayers!

Thank you for your prayers so far,
Mrs. Munson, Mrs. and Mr. Flaman

Hi all - Mrs. Munson Emailed me the message above and I was able to post it for them. It is great to know that all is well. Today (Friday) the team is scheduled to begin the day with Les as he gives an overview of the Ministry - it's history, goals etc. They will also spend time at the work site which we expect will be at the Vida Nueva school.

Tomorrow (Sat) the team will be doing a market activity which is always fun as they get to spend time in the center of Tactic in the open air market. In the afternoon they will go to the hospital. Please pray for them as they are there as this is often a difficult time for them. It is  a time when the team is able to pray and share their faith with others. Often people hear of God's love for them for the first time and some have made commitments on the spot!

Sunday the team will attend the Rio de Vida Church which is the River of Life Church that is held in the original school in Tactic.

I will continue to post as I am able on the team's behalf but perhaps they will be able to access the blog shortly.

Have a wonderful weekend celebrating Christ's death and resurrection!
Julie McLaren
